Thomsonfly announces new low fares route from Cardiff to Jersey

24.04.2006 Thomsonfly has today announced a brand new low fares route from Cardiff to Jersey over this summer. These new flights go on sale today (25 April 2006) at www.thomsonfly.com with one way fares starting from as little as £16.99 including taxes and charges.

From 25 May this year Thomsonfly will be offering four flights a week to Jersey from Cardiff International Airport. This gives Thomsonfly passengers from Cardiff and the surrounding areas the chance to visit the most southerly island of the British Isles for great value for money. The new route is in addition to the low fares flights already offered by Thomsonfly to beach and city destinations around the world.

Jersey offers some of the most stunning scenery in the British Isles, particularly along the dramatic cliffs of the west coast - a haven for surfers. Alternatively visitors can check out the clear water and sandy bays in the south of the island or for keen divers the rocky bays of the north offers some superb sheltered diving sites. As well as the great watersports available, Jersey is also perfect for keen walkers and nature lovers, with a comprehensive network of footpaths which cover the whole island. With one of the best sunshine records in Britain Jersey is a popular holiday getaway, and it’s not hard to see why.

Thomsonfly hopes that this new route comes to the rescue of disappointed passengers who had previously hoped to travel to Jersey with Air Wales.

Maria Heckel, marketing director of Thomsonfly, said; “The low fares flights from Cardiff which we have already put on sale have proved such a success we are keen to grow the flights offering at the airport as much as we can. The new route to Jersey is further proof of Thomsonfly’s commitment to Cardiff and we are pleased to be able to continue to offer great value flying to the people of South Wales.”

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays allowing for both long weekend trips away to the Channel Islands as well as weekday business trips. Jon Horne, managing director of Cardiff International Airport, said; “Thomsonfly’s low fares programme from Cardiff is already extensive and successful. We are delighted that they have chosen to offer such a substantial choice of regular and reliable flights to the Channel Islands marketplace.”

Thomsonfly already operates six flights a week to Jersey from both Coventry and Doncaster and todays announcement comes just two weeks after the airline announced new low fares flights from Cardiff to three more destinations (Tenerife, Alicante and Malaga) for winter 2006/7.

These new summer low fares flights means that Thomsonfly is now flying to a total of 26 destinations from Cardiff this summer – Jersey, Malaga, Alicante, Lanzarote, Bodrum, Bourgas, Corfu, Dalaman, Faro, Gerona, Heraklion, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Mahon, Monastir, Naples, Paphos, Palma, Reus, Rhodes, Tenerife, Varna, Zakynthos, Florida, Dominican Republic and Cancun.

Thomsonfly remains firmly committed to providing a high level of customer service on all its services. The airline offers allocated seating at check in on all of its flights to over 80 destinations worldwide from 24 UK airports – more UK departure points than any other airline.
