Thomsonfly starts flights to Salzburg next month

High frequency, low fares airline Thomsonfly.com is launching flights to Salzburg from Bournemouth and Coventry airports on 1 and 2 December 2005 respectively - great news for Mozart enthusiasts who will be able to visit his city of birth to enjoy the 250th anniversary festivities.

Mozart was born in Salzburg in 1756 and the city is also where he composed more than 350 of his most riveting works. To mark the 250th anniversary of his birth, Salzburg will host the biggest celebration in the city’s history with a variety of events throughout 2006, the highlight of which will be a two-week festival from 20 January to 5 February, including a variety of performances of Mozart’s operas, symphonies and concertos. Other celebrations during the year include the opening of the new Salzburg Museum on 26 January which will include a “Viva Mozart” exhibition. There will also be a new production of the musical comedy La Finta Giardiniera running from January to May 2006.

To tie in with the celebrations, Thomsonfly.com is offering flights to Salzburg with prices starting from just £24.99 one-way including taxes and charges:

  • From Bournemouth Airport, three flights each week, commencing 1 December 2005
  • From Coventry Airport, five flights each week, commencing 2 December 2005

Salzburg is also a major gateway to some of Austria’s best winter sports resorts. Many of the ski resorts, such as Zell am See can be accessed by the train network. The renowned Austrian après ski complements the excellent ski and snowboarding.
