11.03.2005 The final countdown has begun and now it’s only two weeks until the first Thomsonfly.com aircraft takes flight from Bournemouth Airport. The inaugural flight will be Valencia bound, departing at 6.45am on the morning of 22 March 2005.
Since going on sale back in December, Bournemouth sales have exceeded all expectations and the low fares airline has received over 115,000 passenger sector bookings to date with Malaga proving to be the most popular outbound destination. The Malaga route is also leading the way in the number of visitors from overseas.
As expected bookings are coming predominantly from the Bournemouth area and the surrounding Dorset and Hampshire regions. It seems people from far and wide are keen to take advantage of the low fares.
In the lead up to the first day of flying, Thomsonfly.com have held dedicated training courses a number of training sessions for future cabin crew to make sure that everyone is well prepared for the big take off. The mood in the Thomsonfly.com camp is high spirited as everyone counts down the remaining days.
Maria Heckel, marketing director for Thomsonfly.com, said: “Everyone at the airport and within the airline is very excited about flying from Bournemouth. We look forward to being able to provide the people of Bournemouth and the surrounding area a new means of getting to some of the most popular European destinations without the hassle of having to travel to London or other UK airports. This is an exciting time for Thomsonfly.com.”
